Hello!

My name is Jessica Corbitt, but you can call me Jess.

A Bit About Me

I am a determined engineer specializing in mechanical engineering, focused on the medical devices field with a keen interest in designing prosthetic devices. I hold a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder, where I gained a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and ethics. My professional experience includes a research internship at Artimus Robotics and work as a sales associate at Express Factory Outlet. I am proficient in SolidWorks, prototyping, Six Sigma, sewing, and 3D printing.

My journey into engineering began in high school when I created a dynamic sculpture with a laser cutter, merging art and engineering. Inspired by the advanced prosthetics in “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood”, I am passionate about developing real-life solutions that could help people. I am particularly interested in the applications of the HASEL actuator from CU Boulder.

Outside of engineering, I enjoy creating costumes and spending time with my dog, Castiel. Creating costumes allows me to blend my artistic and engineering skills. In the future, I aim to gain hands-on experience in medical device manufacturing to better understand the complexities of bringing innovative solutions to life.

Feel free to explore my portfolio or reach out via email or text to connect further!

This research addresses one of the largest problems in solar and stellar physics: determining the mechanism that counterintuitively heats coronae to temperatures that are orders of magnitude hotter than the corresponding photospheres (Mason et al., 4). This research suggests that Alfvén waves are the dominant mechanism of coronal heating.

Part of the novelty of this research lies in the large number of contributing authors, one of whom was me. During 3 semesters, more than 1400 undergraduate students at the University of Colorado Boulder served as data analysts.
